Let all creation rejoice (Psalm 96)

adapted from Adrienn Prepok

We see in the story of creation, in Genesis, that when God speaks it happens. God said ‘let there be light’ and there was light. It is the same when He says: “Let the heavens be glad and let the earth rejoice!” It is like an order, a commandment, if He says so it will happen, it will happen without any plan B.

“Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and all its fullness; let the field be joyful, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the Lord. For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with His truth.”

— Psalm 96:11-13

The Earth is the Lord’s. The heavens too. And all that He created, in heaven and on Earth, and beneath the waters and all that is in them… it all belongs to Him. So too He fills the heavens and Earth, waters/seas, fields and everything in them with gladness and joy! Trees of the forest, they rejoice, all of them sing for joy for what he has done and for what he is going to do!! In Psalms 98 we learn trees can clap their hands, rivers too, and hills can sing for joy! Make a joyful noise, make his praises great because He has done marvellous things and He reigns! God is reconciling his creation, uniting us to worship Him with joy! We can rejoice together - all creation, both the Heavens and the Earth. There is a connection between heaven and Earth, and it’s the same gladness above, on, in and beyond it all. Everything He has made will respond to the glory of His kingdom at His coming.

We can have confidence in his coming. Even when you cannot see his righteousness in everything, it will come, in everything and in all things. This is a blessed assurance. It will come and He will come!! Trust in Him!

Restore the joy of your sure salvation again today by stopping to hear His voice as you read His word - this same word brings all creation into being and sustains all life!

The bible often speaks of the "new song" and we’re taking this season to meditate on a few key passages. By singing His word, we can grow together in our understanding of who God is, why worship and prayer are important to Him, and how He will use houses of prayer and praying churches across the earth to see the fullness of His plans come to fruition.
